What is chemical stripping?

It’s a controlled bath that dissolves old paint, clear and stubborn contaminants without grinding the metal. Unlike harsh blasting, chemical stripping preserves sharp edges, logos and machining lines—ideal prep for a factory-clean refinish.

When to choose chemical over blasting

• Delicate faces & fine details you don’t want rounded off.
• Heavy build-up of clear, paint or failed powder that sanders can’t reach.
• Pre-powder prep when you need a clean, etched surface for maximum adhesion.
• Corrosion clean-up where you want coatings gone so the alloy can be properly repaired.

We’ll advise the right approach for your wheel. Some parts still benefit from vapour blasting after strip for texture and key.

Our process

1. Remove & protect – Tyre off, weights/valve/TPMS out; sensitive areas are masked.
2. Strip – Aluminium-safe solution dissolves coatings evenly, including tight corners and spoke pockets.
3. Neutralise & rinse – Thorough neutralising bath and fresh-water rinse remove residues and stop under-film contamination.
4. Inspect & repair – With the wheel bare, we pick up any rash, bends or cracks for TIG/straightening before refinish.
5. Prep for finish – Light media or scuff as needed, then prime/paint or powder coat, bake-cure, refit and balance.

Typical turnaround: most single wheels 24–48 hours; full sets/custom work a bit longer. Loan wheels available (subject to size).

Will chemical stripping damage the alloy?
No. We use aluminium-safe solutions and control time/temperature. The goal is to lift coatings, not attack the metal.

Do you always strip before repainting?
If the existing finish is failing or too thick to blend, yes. For light cosmetic repairs we may spot-prep instead.

Is blasting ever better?
For heavy corrosion or to texture before powder, we’ll lightly vapour blast after stripping. We’ll recommend what’s best.

Can you strip only the face?
Yes—depends on the design. We’ll mask pockets or barrels when needed.
