Repairs start from $200 + GST per wheel. The final price depends on the severity of the damage, the type of finish, and whether the wheel needs structural work. A standard painted alloy wheel costs less to repair than a diamond-cut or CNC-machined wheel. We give you an exact, fixed price upfront once we see a photo of the damage — no surprises, ever. It is almost always cheaper to repair a damaged wheel than to replace it. A single replacement factory wheel from a dealership typically costs between $500 and $2,000 in New Zealand, whereas a professional repair restores the wheel to factory condition for a fraction of that. Repairing is also faster — replacement wheels for many models take weeks to arrive from overseas.

Yes, wheel damage is often covered by comprehensive car insurance policies in New Zealand, particularly if the damage occurred during an accident or collision. For minor kerb rash, the repair cost is often lower than your insurance excess. We recommend getting a free quote from us first so you can decide whether it makes financial sense to lodge a claim.

Yes, even severe kerb damage and deep gouges can be fully restored. We don't just sand the damage down — we use specialist welding techniques to build the aluminium back up to its original profile, then machine and refinish it. The result is a wheel that retains its full structural integrity and factory shape.

Yes, cracked and bent wheels can be repaired, provided the damage is within safe structural limits. We use hydraulic presses to straighten buckled wheels back to factory tolerances, and TIG welding to repair cracks. Safety is our absolute priority — if a wheel is too severely damaged to be repaired safely, we will tell you honestly that it needs to be replaced. Learn about wheel straightening and crack repair.

Yes. Wheel straightening is one of the most common repairs we carry out at our Grey Lynn workshop. Using a purpose-built hydraulic press, we restore buckled and out-of-round wheels back to factory tolerances — eliminating the vibration and uneven tyre wear that a bent wheel causes. Most straightening jobs are completed within 24 hours. If the wheel is also cracked, we TIG weld the crack before straightening to ensure full structural integrity. You can disguise very minor surface scratches with DIY touch-up paint, but you cannot achieve a factory finish at home. Professional repair requires sanding, filling, precise colour matching, and oven-baked clear coating to ensure the repair doesn't flake or peel after a few months of driving. For diamond-cut wheels, DIY repair is not possible — it requires a CNC lathe. Mobile repair services can touch up surface scratches quickly, but they cannot replicate the oven-baked finish, colour-matched paint system, or structural repairs that a purpose-built workshop provides.

Minor cosmetic kerb rash does not affect the structural integrity of the wheel and is safe to drive on. However, a bent or cracked wheel is a different matter — it can cause vibration, uneven tyre wear, and in severe cases, a blowout at speed. If your wheel is bent or you can feel vibration through the steering wheel, bring it in for assessment as soon as possible.

Most standard cosmetic repairs and colour changes are completed within 24 to 48 hours at our Grey Lynn workshop. Structural repairs — straightening a bent rim or welding a crack — typically take 24 hours. We know being without your car is frustrating, which is why we offer loan wheels and loan vehicles to keep you moving while we work.

A diamond-cut wheel has a highly polished, bare-metal face with painted inserts, created by spinning the wheel on a CNC lathe. Yes, we can repair them. We use a purpose-built CNC lathe to precisely re-machine the face of the wheel, removing the damage and restoring the original factory lines before sealing it with a durable clear coat. Yes, we offer full powder coating services at our Grey Lynn workshop. Powder coating is significantly more durable than standard wet paint, making it the ideal finish for wheels exposed to brake dust, road grime, and stone chips. We can colour-match your existing wheels or provide a complete custom colour change. Learn about our powder coating service.

Wheel repair targets specific damage — a kerb scuff, a crack, a buckle. Wheel refurbishment is a full cosmetic restoration: the wheel is stripped back to bare metal, any damage is repaired, and the entire wheel is refinished to a factory or custom standard. Refurbishment is the right choice when a wheel has multiple scuffs, faded paint, or corrosion across the whole surface. We offer both services at our Grey Lynn workshop, and we’ll recommend the most cost-effective option once we see the condition of your wheels.
