What’s the difference between rim repair and wheel repair?
There is no difference, save for the terminology. Rim is just the shortened name taken from “wheel rim”. Damaged wheel rims should be professionally repaired.
Common causes include:
- Hitting a kerb, pothole, or protrusion at speed
- Bent or out-of-round wheel spokes and hubs
- Corrosion that compromises the bead seat, causing loss of air pressure
- Stress fractures or cracked wheels
We specialise in restoring damaged rims so you don’t have to replace the whole wheel.
This service is distinct from Curbed or Cracked Wheel Repairs.
What we can help with
We repair all types of Alloy wheels:
- Factory alloy and mag wheels (all brands)
- Performance and luxury vehicles (non-factory)
- Some motorbikes (conditions apply – Give us a call)

Our cracked rim repair process
Our process
1. Assess
We start with a detailed inspection to confirm that the crack, dent, or rim damage is safe to repair. If it's unsafe or not feasible, we'll be honest with you upfront.
2. Prep and clean
We clean the rim thoroughly and prep the damaged area by grinding out the crack and V-grooving for weld penetration.
3. Weld and reshape
We TIG weld the crack using the correct filler material, then reshape the rim to its original profile. For more info on our method, see our TIG Welding page.
4. . Refinish and rebalance
The repaired area is smoothed, finished, and blended back to the wheel. We can also powder coat or paint as and when required.
5. Final check and test
We test for leaks, balance the wheel, and recheck against original specs.
